PickNik Inc. d/b/a PickNik Robotics (“PickNik”, “we”, “us”) is a robotics software company at 4730 Walnut Street, Suite 106, Boulder, Colorado 80301, USA. We make MoveIt™ Pro, a software platform for developing and running robot applications, and we provide related engineering services.
For the personal data described in this policy — website visitors, sales and marketing contacts, job applicants, license-validation data, and product usage data — PickNik is the data controller under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Questions and privacy requests: hello@picknik.ai.
This policy explains how PickNik collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal data through:
We collect usage data on our websites: pages viewed, referrer, approximate location, browser and device type, and the cookie identifiers described in section 6. Server logs record IP addresses for security and operations.
In the MoveIt Pro product, we collect usage analytics: a startup activation signal we can associate with the identified license user (name and email), which Behaviors and Objectives are run, and the system specifications of the machine it runs on. See section 5.
We use personal data to:
We do not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing, including profiling.
MoveIt Pro runs on our customers’ own infrastructure. Apart from the product usage analytics described below — which are limited to product-usage events and system specifications — it does not send robot telemetry, crash reports, logs, images, video, rosbags, source code, Objectives, Behavior Trees, or customer application data to PickNik without explicit permission. Customers may choose to provide such materials to us for support, debugging, or services, in which case we use them only for those purposes and as agreed with the customer.
MoveIt Pro collects product usage analytics and sends them to PickNik to help us understand how the product is used and where to focus development. When an instance starts, it sends an activation signal; because this is tied to the license (see License validation below), we can associate it with the identified license user, including their name and email address. During use, it records which Behaviors and Objectives are run and the system specifications of the machine it runs on. These analytics do not include robot data, camera images, source code, or customer files. In air-gapped deployments, this data is never transmitted.
To enforce software licenses, MoveIt Pro validates its license key against Cryptlex, a third-party license-management service. When a licensed copy is activated or started, Cryptlex receives and records the license key, the time of the event, machine identifiers used to enforce seat limits, and the IP address of the connecting machine. Because we maintain the license database that maps each key to the individual and organization it was issued to, we can associate these activation events with an identified user, including their name and email address. We use this information solely for license enforcement and compliance — not for marketing, advertising, or profiling. See the Cryptlex privacy policy. Customers in air-gapped environments may use offline activation, in which case the product makes no external network calls; contact us for details.
If a customer configures MoveIt Pro to use a third-party AI, LLM, or VLM service with the customer’s own API key, data selected by the customer is sent from the customer’s environment directly to that provider. PickNik does not control the provider’s use of that data; the customer is responsible for reviewing and complying with that provider’s terms and privacy policy.
MoveIt Pro’s robot-learning tools follow the same principle. Robot demonstration data is recorded and stored on the customer’s own machines, and model inference runs on the customer’s own hardware. Customers may optionally use their own accounts with third-party services — Runpod for model training, the Hugging Face Hub for dataset and trained-model hosting, or Weights & Biases for training metrics (all disabled by default) — in which case data flows directly from the customer’s environment to that service under the customer’s agreement with it. PickNik operates no server-side AI service and receives no customer robot data, demonstration data, or trained models.
To the extent a customer provides logs, files, images, robotics data, or other materials to PickNik for support or services — through shared Slack channels, email, or our ticketing system — our use of that data is governed by the applicable customer agreement. Such materials may incidentally contain personal data, such as images of individuals near a robot. The customer determines the purposes of that processing; PickNik processes the data only on the customer’s instructions and to provide the requested support, does not use it to identify individuals, and deletes or returns it in accordance with the customer agreement.
